When the publisher asked me to write a weekly column for the Murray Ledger & Times, he said I could write anything "as long as it’s not political or controversial."

Sometimes readers go for a stroll on the main streets of communities in western Kentucky. Other times we off-road in unmapped territory or veer into dark alleys.

Though I chose the name Main Street, I have explored some less-traveled paths in the column; including gun control, censorship, prayer in public schools, mental illness, suicide, infidelity, addictions, and cheerleaders.

The current Main Street column is posted on the Murray Ledger & Times website.
